Sometimes you just want a reason to get outside, especially after being trapped indoors at work all day.
Sometimes, I just want a reason to shoot. Anything, anywhere with color and maybe just a touch of chaos.
In summer, the bike races at Ault Park provide just such an excuse. The races, which are sponsored by Queen City Wheels are held on six Wednesdays in June and July.
According to their website, QCW was founded in 1972, and is Cincinnati's first and largest racing club. They’re affiliated with USA Cycling, the governing body for amateur, professional and Olympic cycling in the United States.
The Ault Park Points Race Series is Cincinnati’s longest running training race series which QCW began promoting in its 20th year. There are races for beginners as well as more experienced riders
You don’t have to be a cycling aficionado to appreciate the races. In fact, you need not know anything about racing to enjoy the spectacle. Sit in the warm sunshine, along with a picnic basket, and maybe a cold bottle of white wine, and there’s no reason not to take part.
Because as the man once said, summer’s here and the time is right for racing in the streets.
